Challenge brief

Time: 1 hour Goal: Ship a playable 2D platformer where the player's Mad Libs answers reshape the game using AI.

1. Intro Screen — Mad Libs

The player fills in this exact form. Use it verbatim, including the example hints — they matter.

Meet _______ (your hero — name + what they are, e.g. "Carlitos the lazy capybara" or "Pixelated Dr Simi").

Their world is overrun by _______ (common enemy, e.g. "tax-collecting goblins", "Evil VCs"), ruled by an evil _______ (the big bad boss, e.g. "Evil AI Agent"), who has kidnapped _______ (who or what your hero loves most).

To save the day, our hero must _______ (a verb — how they defeat enemies: "yodel at," "high-five," "vaporize"…) every enemy in their path.

The world is rendered in _______ (art style: pixel art, claymation, hand-drawn, cel-shaded, vaporwave…) and the vibe is _______ (pick: magical / sci-fi / prehistoric / underwater / post-apocalyptic / dreamlike).

One last thing — our hero has a strange weakness: _______ (something silly that hurts them, e.g. "loud chewing").

8 inputs total. The "vibe" input is a dropdown/picker; the rest are free text. Show the example hints in the UI — they prevent flat inputs and give the AI a richer signal to work with.

2. AI Customization Step

When the player hits Start, you call AI to customize the game based on their inputs.

You must visibly customize at least ONE of these layers — more is better:

  • Visuals → character sprite, enemy + boss sprites, background, level theme, palette
  • Gameplay → how the hero defeats enemies (the verb matters — "tickling" ≠ "vaporizing"), boss fight mechanics, the hero's weakness as a hazard, movement style, level layout
  • Dynamics → opening cutscene, dialogue, enemy/boss behavior, sound/music vibe, win screen featuring the rescued loved one

3. Playable Platformer

Classic 2D side-scroller. Run, jump, defeat enemies, rescue the hostage, win.
