Challenge brief

OpenClaw Live: Who Builds the Best Skill in 1 Hour?

Why OpenClaw?

OpenClaw — formerly known as Clawdbot and then Moltbot — is an open-source AI agent that runs locally and can perform real tasks on your computer: automating workflows, managing files, sending emails, and controlling APIs. In February 2026, the repository surpassed 100,000 GitHub stars and went viral in the developer community.

The project uses a "skills" system where skills are stored as directories containing a SKILL.md file with metadata and tool-use instructions — exactly the same pattern already familiar to anyone who has used Claude Code.

OpenClaw connects to WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, iMessage, Signal, Teams, Matrix, and 20+ other channels. It includes native browser control, canvas, cron jobs, webhooks, and a skill marketplace called ClawHub.

The Challenge — 60 Minutes

Build an original OpenClaw Skill that solves something genuinely useful for a developer or an everyday person in Mexico.

A Skill is essentially a folder with a SKILL.md — a format you already know if you've worked with Claude Code. The agent reads it and knows how to use it. It's not magic; it's a well-written text file plus supporting code if needed.

Rules

  • The skill must be original — not already listed on ClawHub
  • It must work and be demoed live via the participant's channel of choice (Telegram, WhatsApp, the TUI...)
  • It can be simple, but it must do something real

Possible Skill Ideas (for inspiration, not copying)

  • A skill that monitors SIAPA/public API status and alerts you via Telegram if there's an outage in your neighborhood
  • A skill that takes your GitHub commits from the day and auto-generates tomorrow's standup
  • A skill that reads your Claude Code history and gives you a weekly summary of which projects consumed your tokens
  • A "deep work mode" skill: blocks notifications, sets a timer, and sends you a summary of what you accomplished when it ends

Why It Works for VibeRacing

The key to OpenClaw is its skills system: you can drop a markdown file into the skills/ folder to add new capabilities. Developers build workflows where one agent plans the tasks, other agents handle specialized work, and results are automatically combined.

The challenge tests three things at once: how well you know the agentic ecosystem, how fast you write useful documentation (the SKILL.md talks to the LLM, not to humans), and whether your idea solves something people would actually use. The final demo is unforgiving — the agent runs live in front of everyone.
